The Flag of Bas-Rhin is a symbolic representation of the department located in east-central France. It consists of three horizontal bands of colors: blue, white, and red from top to bottom. This design reflects the historical division of the region into Upper Alsace (blue), Lower Alsace (red), and an ancient independent state known as the County of Hanau-Lichtenberg (white). The flag was officially adopted in 1983 after a proposal by the Regional Council of Alsace. It serves to symbolize the identity, history, and unity of Bas-Rhin within France.
