Flag of Kaliningrad Oblast Russia The flag of Kaliningrad Oblast, a federal subject of Russia, is a rectangular bicolor design consisting of two horizontal fields. The top field is white, while the bottom one is blue. In the center of the white half, there is a red square with a diameter equal to half the length of the flag. The ratio of the flag’s width to its length is 2:3. This design symbolizes the coat of arms of Kaliningrad Oblast, where the red square represents a star, a traditional heraldic element associated with the city of Knigsberg (the former name of Kaliningrad), and the blue and white colors represent the sky and the Baltic Sea. The flag was officially adopted on April 30, 2006. It is important to note that the flag of Kaliningrad Oblast is distinct from the Russian national flag, which features three equal horizontal fields of white, blue, and red with a smaller version of the coat of arms of Russia in the upper hoist-side quadrant of the flag.
